PRACTICE GROUPINGS

The Mt. Vernon Swim Team offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Mt. Vernon Swim Team to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

12 & over

All High School students and any younger swimmers who have achieved a Senior State cut and who sign a contract to attend all practices.

HS/incoming HS are allowed to participate in the summer training trip.

Acceptance into this group is based on age, commitment level and goal orientation. Swimmers must be able to willing accept extensive and highly demanding training and must agree to attend all practices and required meets.

SENIOR

14 & over

High School students and incoming freshmen. Must attend one practice per day during the summer. Must attend all practices during the winter.

Allows off‑season swimmers to maintain conditioning through the summer. But focuses on their training during the winter.

“M” TEANM

 

 

Coach Loehr

9 +

Can do all strokes and turns to Coach Loehr’s approval.

Can make 10x100 free on a 1:30 cycle.

Can make 10x100 IM on a 2:00 cycle.

If group exceeds 24 only the fastest 24 swimmers in a 400IM will be permitted in the group.

Commits to practicing a minimum of 3 times per week Aug-Sept.

Commits to practicing a minimum of 4 times per week Oct-Feb.

TEAM

6+

Can do 10X50 free on 1:00 cycle
Can do a legal 100 IM

Can do basic freestyle flip turn
Can do a safe racing dive off the starting blocks

Commits to a minimum of 3 days a week practice.

“V”
TEAM

Coach Boyer

 

Can do 100 freestyle and 50 backstroke with legal turns
Can do a safe racing dive off the edge of the pool

Commits to a minimum of 2 days a week practice

GUPPIES

Can safely swim in deep water

Developmental,  fun group to learn skills and promote swimming
